Thanks for sharing where you stand. How did you arrive at the conclusion that Kamala has not been clear about where she stands?

You're a really outstanding writer. Interestingly it seems like Iowa State has changed in the direction opposite from you/ It's still a college campus so more liberal than not but as I understand it there are plenty of R's at that campus.

I’m not saying I’m for any specific party. I vote on the issues. I’m saying that assumption is narrow minded. Not everyone is that way. I will say Kamala has not been clear on where she stands on anything. But she’s great at blaming everyone else.

This makes me sad that you insinuate the whole of the Republican Party is “like Rush”. Very narrow minded.

I can see how that would make you feel sad. When I was struggling with my place in the Republican Party, I often would feel the need to defend it or to say things like “not all Republicans.” I thought I was sticking up for my party but in reality I was defending myself because I was uncomfortable with values of the party and deep down did not want to be associated with their cruelty. Thanks for reading and commenting. Your engagement will help more folks see my writing.

This is a wonderful post. The only thing I want to say because I genuinely think this is so so so so important to deconstructing the things here:

Nothing 'happened' to the party of Reagan. Reagan happened. They have always been this hierarchical segregationist hateful party. All that has changed is that more people know better. From the republicans mockery of AIDS sufferers in the 80s to the hatred of college kids in the 60s to the hatred of benefits for poor people of color, their stripes have never ever changed.

We are just able to see them now because we are wiser, they were always this way.
